Earlier this month, EnTouch Controls team members Kay Altom and James Walton traveled to Connecticut for the Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM) Mid-Year Conference, which focused on strategic sourcing for retail facilities services.
It was an appropriate topic for energy management. Too often, companies don’t have the data they need to make strategic operating or investment decisions to reduce energy usage.
This is especially important to retail facilities right now. According to industry estimates, “retail buildings in the U.S. use an average of 14 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per square foot of electricity annually… and in a typical retail building, lighting, cooling, and heating represent about 60 percent of total use.” Furthermore, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration “retail companies spend nearly $20 billion on energy each year.”
The EnTouch team was able to develop new relationships with both retailers and vendor partners, while sharing its thoughts on how energy management is an essential tool for strategic sourcing.
