It’s Earth Day 2014, and we at EnTouch Controls can’t help but be a little humbled by the movement that helped the world to develop an environmental conscious which, ultimately, led to the demand for our product.
It makes us think about all of the customers who have whole heartedly embraced energy management to help reduce their impact on the planet.
That impact will be felt in many future generations, but we’re also reminded of the impact that energy management will have on people in the here and now. More non-profits are looking at energy management to help with sustainability, but also to help conserve vital financial resources.
One of our favorite conservation successes is Promise House, a transitional home in Dallas that has helped more than 60,000 at risk teens since its opening in 1984. Here’s a summary of the impact that energy management has had on Promise House:
Promise House operates a 30,000 square-foot facility in Dallas to provide emergency shelter, transitional living, counseling and support to homeless, runaway and at-risk teenagers throughout North Texas. Energy costs have been among its top operating expenses and among the hardest to manage. The EnTouch Controls system helped to identify where energy was being used and provide security features to limit excessive heating and cooling expenses. Electricity expenses exceeded $50,000 in 2011 and the EnTouch Controls solution saved over $15,000 in the first year alone.
Energy management is just one of the ways we all can make a difference. Here are some resources from the White House and from the Carnegie Council that you can use as a starting point. If you don’t know whether energy management can make a difference, try our risk-free assessment to audit your facility.
Happy Earth Day! For the earth’s sake, let’s keep the celebration going all year round.
